How we did it
Our Story
Mr. P.A. Opperman came to Katima Mulilo in 1992 when he was building the Engine filling station. He realised there were very few building materials available in town, and the transport was difficult due to the dirt roads between Rundo, Katima Mulilo, Botswana, and Zambia. Mr. Opperman saw the opportunity and in 1992 Katima Brickmaking was founded. 31-years later it is still a successful business that manufactures all building and construction materials for your need. Today the owner is his second-born son, Phillip Opperman, who took over from his father in 2018 after returning from Varsity in Cape Town. Mr. Opperman’s first-born son, Ruan Opperman also joined the company when he returned from overseas to help with the operations of the business
